When’s the last time you saw a jazz record with a Parental Advisory sticker on it? When’s the last time a jazz record gave you an undeniable urge to dance? When’s the last time you were able to pin down the exact influences of a music, and were also sure that you’d never heard anything like it?

The Rebirth Brass Band, a big and irrepressible band from New Orleans, doesn’t just celebrate the more than 100-year-old marching band tradition of its hometown — the group’s bouncing and swinging music reflects the far-flung influences of Parliament, Goodie Mob and Machito. The 30-year-old troupe is at once playful and confrontational; if you’re a fan of D.C. go-go, or of New Orleans’s Preservation Hall Jazz Band, you’ll find a thrilling middle ground in the Rebirth Brass Band. You’ll also find a whole lot of talent: The world-class trumpeter Kermit Ruffins got his start with the band, which continues to feature a lineup of top-shelf players.

The Rebirth Brass Band will play at the 9:30 Club on Dec. 27. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, but you can win a pair before they do. To enter the drawing, all you have to do is share this offer on Facebook — follow this link and click “share.” We will choose a winner at midnight tonight. Don’t miss out on this exciting offer!

The Rebirth Brass Band performs on Dec. 27 at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are not yet on sale.
